Tauhara Centre is located in beautiful Acacia Bay, Taupo, sitting high above the surrounding landscape and Australasia’s largest freshwater lake. It overlooks both Mt Tauhara and the local town, with clear views to the volcanoes (Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe and Tongariro) and the Kaimanawa mountain range, to the south.

The Centre, operated by a charitable trust

Offers accommodation, catering and conference facilities to a wide range of educational, philosophical, personal growth, health and healing, broadly spiritual, religious and cultural organised retreats.

Welcomes people wishing to come for a quiet, personal retreat away from the pressing concerns of the world at large. Families, also, are encouraged to come and spend time-out together in a peaceful setting. Groups are also welcome to gather for quiet retreats, reflection, prayer or shared time away, with space to rest, reconnect and be renewed together.

Provides opportunities for people less financially resourced to come on a short stay, work exchange basis, at no charge, undertaking a wide range of catering, housekeeping, grounds and vegetable gardening activities. Accommodation, meals, power, wifi, access to all Centre facilities (“full board and keep”) in exchange for 4-5 hours work per day.

If you wish to experience this lovely environment and all its facilities, come as a participant in an organised group retreat; organise a group retreat yourself; come on a personal, time-out retreat; apply for a place on our work exchange team (“Wwoofing”).
