Bring a Group

Because we operate as a charitable trust, our Trust Deed sets out the sorts of activities that are permissible at our Centre, so we are not just offering a venue for hire to anyone. Our primary focus is to make available our facilities to a wide range of educational, philosophical, personal growth, health and healing, broadly spiritual, religious and cultural organised retreats. We receive many enquiries for other sorts of activities, including weddings, but these lie outside our essential purpose.

Tauhara Centre hosts retreats, providing accommodation, catering, meeting spaces and support services, but it rarely organises retreats itself. Groups need to provide their own organisers and facilitators; accept responsibility for registering their participants; taking payments; and making a final over-all payment to Tauhara at the conclusion of their retreat.

Tauhara Centre can accommodate groups of a range of sizes, with more than 60 beds across self-contained apartments, cottages, lodges and shared bunkrooms. Additional options are also available for camping, caravans and campervans, making the Centre a flexible choice for retreats, workshops, gatherings and extended group stays.

Groups have access to a variety of shared spaces, including the Main Hall, which seats up to 130 people, the Dining Room for up to 95 people, the Common Room for up to 40 people and the Meeting Room for up to 25 people. Alongside these indoor spaces, the library, sanctuary, grounds and bush tracks provide room for quiet reflection, informal conversations and time together in a peaceful setting.

At the Tauhara Centre, we are welcoming and open to people from all different walks of life, all faiths, who hold many different views. By valuing openness and acceptance, we are creating a space for unity and community. We are happy when our guests leave the Tauhara Centre with the feeling that they were in the right environment to grow spiritually and/or personally.
